What Is Aligner Treatment?

Aligners are a revolutionary treatment option that doesn't require any metal wires or brackets. Instead, Invisalign and 3M Clarity aligners use a series of clear, removable trays to straighten your teeth.

The aligners you wear during treatment are made from transparent plastic, making them nearly invisible when you wear them. They are easy to remove to eat, drink, brush, and floss, so you can carry on with your life without making any major adjustments.

How Do Aligners Work?

The first step in your aligner treatment is a free consultation with one of our expert orthodontists in Stillwater or Woodbury. During your appointment, Dr. Henseler or Dr. Kocian will thoroughly examine your teeth and bite to determine if clear aligner treatment is right for you.

Your orthodontist will use the information they collect to create a 3D computer model of your teeth as the basis for your aligners. We'll send this information to a special lab to print your aligners. Once your aligners are in we will call to set up an appointment where we will give you specific instructions, you'll wear each tray for a few weeks before switching to the next in the set to keep your teeth moving.

Once you start treatment, you'll wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours daily, only removing them to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you work through your trays, your teeth will shift into alignment, with noticeable results after just a few weeks.

After you finish your final set of aligners, you'll unveil your beautiful new smile! Like with braces, you'll need to wear a retainer after treatment to maintain your results long-term.

Who Can UseĀ  Aligners?

When they first hit the market, clear aligners were mostly used for adults with minor orthodontic issues. However, thanks to technological advancements, H&K Orthodontics can use aligners for patients of all ages to treat just about any malocclusion you may have.

Since the trays are 100% customized to your teeth, they can be a great fit for nearly any case. However, if you have more severe oral issues, you may benefit more from traditional braces since they provide additional support and control.

Why Choose Clear Aligners

If you're unhappy with your smile, it can affect your daily life. Whether you're in school or work, being social often means showing off that smile, so it's our goal at H&K Orthodontics to help you love yours.

Clear aligners are a great option to correct oral issues, touch-up a smile that's been treated before, or give you a boost in confidence when it comes to your appearance. No matter your reason for seeking treatment with clear aligners, our team will help you get the results you want.

Benefits of Clear Aligners

Discreet Orthodontic Treatment: Invisalign and 3M Clarity aligners fit snugly against your teeth, so they are nearly invisible while you wear them and won't show up in photos.

Easy to Brush & Floss: Keeping the additional nooks and crannies free of debris can be tricky with traditional braces. But you can remove clear aligners for oral hygiene, which means brushing and flossing are as easy as ever.

More Comfortable: They are smooth, meaning that, they do not have sharp corners, and should not cause small cuts and scratches inside the mouth. This makes the treatment experience with clear aligners very comfortable.
